About RZS files

An .RZS file is a proprietary security and authorization token generated by Red Zion E-book (often distributed locally as Red Zion E-knjiga). It stores Digital Rights Management (DRM) data to enforce strict copy protection on specific digital publications. These files are managed exclusively by the legacy Red Zion E-book desktop application for Windows.

The biggest frustration with .RZS files is that they are entirely closed-source, heavily encrypted, and inherently tied to a discontinued ecosystem. Users frequently mistake them for the actual e-book document. In reality, the file contains absolutely zero readable text; it is strictly a mathematical key used to unlock an associated RZB (Red Zion Book) file. Because it is a security token rather than a media or document container, converting an .RZS file into standard reading formats like PDF or EPUB is structurally impossible.

This file format is incredibly difficult to open or convert. Often, only the original Slovenian software possesses the specific decryption algorithm needed to authorize access. If our analysis detects a supported underlying or embedded format, viewing or conversion may still be possible.

Convert.Guru analyzes your RZS file, detects the exact format, and lets you read the text inside.

The RZS Converter Story

The history of Convert.Guru began over 25 years ago in California with Tom Simondi’s file-format database. A former contributor to Space Shuttle development and a software pioneer of the 1980s, Simondi established a trusted resource for file type analysis that was even referenced by Microsoft Windows XP. Today, we use modern technology to process and convert thousands of file formats while continually improving our RZS converter.
