About RXT files

A .RXT file is a proprietary software extension used by Retrospect, a professional backup and data recovery application. These files function as plugins or add-ons, designed to expand the software's capabilities, add support for new storage devices, or update specific internal components.

The primary disadvantage of the .RXT format is its completely closed and undocumented nature. It is heavily tied to the Retrospect ecosystem and is entirely useless on its own. You cannot open or read an .RXT file without having the Retrospect software installed. Because this file contains compiled code or proprietary binary data rather than standard media or text, conventional file converters will always fail to process it.

Since this is an extension file and not a document or image, you cannot directly convert .RXT to standard formats like PDF, JPG, or DOCX. The original software is strictly required to execute or load the data. This file format is difficult to open or convert because only the original developer holds the key to parsing its structure. Our analysis tools can inspect the file's binary header to confirm it is a valid Retrospect file and extract any embedded plaintext strings or metadata.

Convert.Guru analyzes your RXT file, detects the exact format, and lets you read the text inside.
