Extract text from Parameter templates (ROP)
To convert ROP templates to another format, you need Actuate e.Reports or other Settings software.
To convert other file formats to the "Configuration File" file type, you need software like Actuate e.Reports or a similar tool.
The .ROP extension primarily refers to the Actuate Parameter Template, a legacy file format associated with enterprise reporting software now managed by OpenText. These files store parameter definitions for generating business intelligence reports and are often encountered in older archival systems. Because they are proprietary to the Actuate ecosystem, they cannot be opened by standard office software like Microsoft Word or web browsers. Users typically need to convert them to PDF or TXT to view the report criteria without the original licensed software.
A secondary but distinct use case (approx. 13%) is for Rhythm Overdrive game data files developed by SamanDev. Unlike the Actuate format, these are often plain text files structured in JSON. Players and modders encounter friction because the operating system does not recognize the .ROP extension as a text file, preventing them from making quick edits. Renaming the file to JSON or opening it directly in Notepad++ usually reveals the readable code structure.
