Extract text from Genealogy databases (RODZ)

The .RODZ file is a proprietary genealogy database created by Nethar Ancestry (formerly known as Rodokmen), a free Windows application developed by Martin Doležal and used to build family trees. It stores structured family history data, including names, birth dates, relationship links, and embedded media like photographs.
The main disadvantage of the .RODZ format is its closed nature and reliance on legacy software. Because Nethar Ancestry is no longer actively developed, storing your family history exclusively in this format risks data lock-in if the application stops running on future operating systems. Furthermore, major modern genealogy platforms like MyHeritage or Ancestry.com cannot read .RODZ files directly.
To safely preserve your research, the best conversion target is GED (GEDCOM), the universal standard for transferring family tree data between platforms. For sharing visual family trees with relatives, exporting to PDF, JPG, or SVG is recommended, though you will lose the interactive database structure.
Because .RODZ is a closed, proprietary file, standard online converters generally fail to process it. Often, only the original Nethar Ancestry software can properly read or export the complex relationship data.
