About RLB files
The .RLB file extension is primarily a proprietary project format generated by RocLab (part of the Rocscience suite), software used by geotechnical engineers to determine rock mass strength parameters. These files encapsulate complex data models, including the Generalized Hoek-Brown failure criterion, intact rock properties, and stress analysis parameters. A secondary, less common use is for label layouts created by Roller Label or older versions of Labeljoy.
The main challenge with .RLB files is their lack of interoperability. Because they are binary or formatted specifically for the host application, you cannot simply double-click to view them without the specific - and often expensive - industry software installed. Sending a raw .RLB file to a client or contractor usually results in confusion and error messages.
For engineering workflows, the most practical solution is converting the visual charts and reports to PDF for documentation or exporting the calculated data points to XLSX (Excel) or CSV for further analysis in universal spreadsheet tools. For label designs, converting the file to a vector PDF or high-resolution TIFF allows you to print the labels on standard printers without needing the original design software.
Use Convert.Guru to open and convert your RLB file.
If you want to convert RLB file to JS, TS, PY, JAVA, CPP, C, CS, PHP, RB, GO, RS or SWIFT, you can use RocLab or similar software from the "Rock Strength Analysis" category. In the File menu, look for Save As… or Export….
To convert SH, PY, KT, SWIFT, LUA, PL, JAVA, SCALA, JS, VBS or TS files to RLB, try RocLab or another comparable tool in the "Rock Strength Analysis" category.
The RLB Converter Story
The history of Convert.Guru began over 25 years ago in California with Tom Simondi’s file-format database. A former contributor to Space Shuttle development and a software pioneer of the 1980s, Simondi established a trusted resource for file type analysis that was even referenced by Microsoft Windows XP. Today, we use modern technology to process and convert thousands of file formats while continually improving our RLB converter.
