About RISE files
A .rise file is a RISE Editor Model File, primarily used in database design and software modeling. Developed by RISE to Bloome Software, these files act as a centralized blueprint for developers. They store Entity Relationship Diagrams (ERDs), web service interfaces, and object-oriented application models, which are then used to automatically generate SQL code or application layers for programming languages like C# and PHP.
While .rise files are powerful within the original software, the format presents significant collaboration challenges. Because the format relies on proprietary application logic to render visuals, anyone trying to view the database schema or project architecture must install the exact RISE Editor software on a Windows environment. The format does not render natively in web browsers, and sharing visual models with non-technical stakeholders or clients is virtually impossible without exporting the data first.
To make your database models readable across all devices, you must convert the .rise file into standard formats. Exporting to PDF or JPG is the best option for sharing static ERD diagrams. If you want to inspect the raw schema data without the software, extracting the internal text to XML or TXT is highly recommended, though you will lose the graphical layout.
Directly converting a .rise file without the original software is difficult. Standard online converters cannot parse the proprietary RISE Document Type Definition (DTD) schema or recreate the complex graphical ERD layouts, meaning all visual positioning will be lost. Since .rise files are fundamentally structured in XML under the hood, our analysis engine detects the underlying format. We allow you to view, extract, and convert the raw database schema code, even if you do not have the RISE Editor installed.
Convert.Guru analyzes your RISE file, detects the exact format, and lets you read the text inside.

The RISE Converter Story
The history of Convert.Guru began over 25 years ago in California with Tom Simondi’s file-format database. A former contributor to Space Shuttle development and a software pioneer of the 1980s, Simondi established a trusted resource for file type analysis that was even referenced by Microsoft Windows XP. Today, we use modern technology to process and convert thousands of file formats while continually improving our RISE converter.
