About RDLX files

.RDLX files are Power View Project files created by Microsoft. They store interactive data visualizations, reports, and dashboards. These files are typically opened with legacy versions of Microsoft Excel or SQL Server Reporting Services. You can read more about the underlying structure on Wikipedia: Report Definition Language. Users often need to convert .RDLX files because Microsoft has heavily deprecated Power View in favor of Power BI. Opening an .RDLX file on a modern system frequently triggers unsupported feature warnings. Furthermore, the format is highly proprietary and usually relies on live database connections; if the database is offline, the report is useless. The best conversion targets are .PDF for static sharing or .XLSX for data extraction, but these require exporting directly from the original software. You can also rename the file to .ZIP to extract internal images and XML data. This file format is difficult to open or convert online. Often only the original software can properly read or export the data. Standard online converters fail because they cannot access the connected SQL databases required to render the charts.
