About RDI files

The .RDI file format primarily stores raw, proprietary data generated by highly specialized scientific and engineering hardware. Most frequently, it represents measurement data captured by Rohde & Schwarz automated test equipment or acoustic profiling data collected by Teledyne RD Instruments Acoustic Doppler Current Profilers (ADCP). A smaller subset of .RDI files function as encrypted virtual disk images created by Rohos Disk Encryption. These hardware-specific data files are notoriously rigid and difficult to handle. They contain uncalibrated, proprietary binary streams that are virtually useless without the manufacturer's original software. Users usually need to convert this raw data into accessible formats like CSV, TXT, or MAT to perform independent analysis in Microsoft Excel or MATLAB. Rohos disk images present a different challenge: they are locked behind AES-256 encryption and require a master password and the original software to mount. Converting .RDI directly via standard online tools is nearly impossible because the data structures are closed-source and undocumented. Standard converters lack the algorithms required to parse the acoustic sensor data or bypass Rohos encryption. However, you can drag and drop your .RDI file into convert.guru to see what it is. Our analysis engine will inspect the file headers to pinpoint exactly which type of .RDI you have. We extract readable text, metadata, and XML strings, giving you a clear view of the file's origin, and we will convert it if an underlying supported format is detected.

Convert.Guru analyzes your RDI file, detects the exact format, and lets you read the text inside.

FAQ

If you want to convert RDI file to BASE64, HEX, BIN, ENC, CRYPT, AES, DES, RSA, PGP, GPG, ASC or KEY, you can use Teledyne WinRiver or similar software from the "Raw Hardware Data Storage" category. In the File menu, look for Save As… or Export….

To convert CER, BIN, PEM, DER, KEY, P7S, PFX, ENC, P12, BASE64, P7B or HEX files to RDI, try Teledyne WinRiver or another comparable tool in the "Raw Hardware Data Storage" category.

The RDI Converter Story

The history of Convert.Guru began over 25 years ago in California with Tom Simondi’s file-format database. A former contributor to Space Shuttle development and a software pioneer of the 1980s, Simondi established a trusted resource for file type analysis that was even referenced by Microsoft Windows XP. Today, we use modern technology to process and convert thousands of file formats while continually improving our RDI converter.
