About RDI files

The .RDI extension is shared by two distinct but technical file types: Teledyne RD Instruments raw data files and Rohos Disk Encryption images.

1. Teledyne RDI Raw Data (Scientific/Industrial)

Most commonly encountered in oceanography and geology, this file contains binary raw data recorded by Acoustic Doppler Current Profilers (ADCP). These files (often created by WinADCP or VMDAS) store complex hydroacoustic measurements.

The Problem: The format is a proprietary binary stream. You cannot open it in Excel or Notepad. Scientists and engineers frequently struggle to access the velocity, echo intensity, and correlation data locked inside without specialized, expensive software.

Best Conversion Targets:

2. Rohos Disk Image (Security/Consumer)

Alternatively, an RDI file may be a virtual encrypted disk container created by Rohos Mini Drive. These act as secure, portable vaults for sensitive files.

The Problem: This is a "container" file. You cannot "convert" it directly to a PDF or JPG. It must be mounted using the correct password and software to reveal the files inside.

Best Conversion Targets:

Convert.Guru analyzes your RDI file, detects the exact format, and lets you read the text inside.
