The .RBL file extension is highly fragmented and shared by three completely different applications: embedded device firmware updates, Revolut transaction statements, and Rechenblatt math worksheets. Most commonly, an .RBL file serves as a firmware update or boot loader for microcontrollers manufactured by Beken Corporation or Realtek. Alternatively, digital banking users frequently encounter .RBL files when downloading transaction receipts and statements from their Revolut accounts. Finally, it may also represent a proprietary math worksheet created by the legacy German software Rechenblatt.
The main problem with .RBL files is this ambiguity. Firmware files are proprietary binary blobs that cannot be "converted" into documents; they must be flashed directly to hardware using specialized tools like RBL Flasher. Attempting to open them in a standard text editor yields unreadable gibberish. On the other hand, Revolut .RBL files often frustrate users because standard document viewers reject them. However, these banking files are actually standard GZIP compressed archives in disguise.
For Revolut statements, the best conversion target is extracting the underlying CSV or PDF data. You can typically do this by renaming the file extension to GZ and using an archive extractor. Because the .RBL format is either a closed hardware binary or a disguised archive, standard online document converters usually fail to process it.
