About QVT files

The .QVT file is primarily a CMM (Coordinate Measuring Machine) part program file created by Quality Vision International (QVI). These files store automated measurement routines, spatial coordinates, and inspection parameters used by metrology equipment to verify manufactured parts. A secondary, rarer use is the QlikView Theme File used by QlikView, a Business Intelligence (BI) software by QlikTech International, to store dashboard styling and UI configurations. The main disadvantage of the .QVT format is its highly proprietary nature. CMM files are locked to specialized metrology software like QVT Viewer, which is expensive and not widely accessible. They cannot be opened natively by web browsers, standard text editors, or mobile devices. Similarly, QlikView themes are useless outside the BI environment. Users often need to convert these files to share inspection results with clients or stakeholders who do not have the original software installed. The best target formats for CMM data are standard CSV for coordinate data or PDF for static inspection reports, though this export usually requires the original QVI software. Standard online converters fail with .QVT files because the format is closed and undocumented. This file format is difficult to open or convert for this exact reason.
