About QUA files

The .qua file extension is primarily associated with two entirely different applications: Quaver Beatmaps and Avira AntiVir Quarantined Files. A Quaver Beatmap is a level data file used by the open-source rhythm game Quaver. It contains the exact timing, note placement, and metadata required to play a specific song within the game engine. An Avira AntiVir Quarantined File is a potentially malicious file that has been neutralized, renamed, and encrypted by Avira Antivirus to prevent it from executing and harming your operating system. Users often try to convert Quaver beatmaps to alternate rhythm game formats like OSU to play them in osu!. However, because these games use strict, proprietary charting engines, note timing and hit window logic often become desynchronized or completely lost during conversion. Avira quarantined files pose an entirely different challenge: they are intentionally locked down. If you attempt to open or convert a quarantined file without using Avira's built-in restore function, standard converters will fail to bypass the encryption, and attempting to forcibly extract the data risks unleashing actual malware.
