Extract text from qStopMotion animation projects (QSMD)
To convert QSMD projects to another format, you need qStopMotion or other Video software.
To convert other file formats to the "Stop Motion Project File" file type, you need software like qStopMotion or a similar tool.
A .QSMD file is an animation project file created by qStopMotion, an open-source application used for creating stop-motion animation from webcams or imported image sequences.
The primary disadvantage of the .QSMD format is that it is strictly a project file, not a video file. It does not contain actual compiled video data. Instead, it stores text-based references (paths) to your local image files, audio tracks, frame rates, and scene structures. You cannot play a .QSMD file in media players like VLC, share it on social networks, or upload it to YouTube. If you send the file to someone else without the accompanying image folder, the project will appear empty.
To share your animation, you must convert it. The best target formats are MP4 or AVI. However, standard online video converters will fail to process this file because they cannot access your computer's local hard drive to retrieve the source images. You must open the project in the original software to render the video.
Because this file format relies heavily on local assets, it is difficult to open or convert externally. Often only the original software can properly read or export the data.
