About QMK files

The .QMK file is a proprietary data format used as a YanCEyDesktop Quickmarks File. It stores user-created bookmarks, or quickmarks, for eBooks within the discontinued YanCEyWare ecosystem. These files were generated and managed by YanCEyDesktop, a Windows-based companion application designed to sync eBooks to early PDA devices running Windows CE. A common user frustration is mistaking .QMK files for actual eBooks. Users frequently try to convert them to readable document formats. The major disadvantage of this format is that it does not contain any book text or chapters. It only holds structural pointers and saved page locations. It is a closed, proprietary file that is completely useless without its companion YBK (YanCEyWare eBook) file. Because this file contains purely positional metadata, converting it to standard formats like EPUB or PDF is impossible. You cannot extract a book from a bookmark file. This file format is difficult to open or convert because it relies on outdated software.
