About QDZ files

A .QDZ file is a Quartus Device Support Package used by Intel Quartus Prime software. It contains binary device libraries, timing models, and hardware configuration data needed to program specific Intel or Altera Field Programmable Gate Arrays (FPGAs). Users typically download these files to add new chip support to their existing design environment. The primary disadvantage of the .QDZ format is its proprietary nature and massive file size, often reaching several gigabytes. It requires a heavy, specialized Electronic Design Automation (EDA) suite to utilize. You cannot open it in a web browser or standard text editor. Standard online converters usually fail to process .QDZ files because they mistake them for documents or media. This file format is difficult to open or convert because it is a closed, proprietary installer package built specifically for the Quartus Device Installer. Only the original software can properly read or export the compiled data to an FPGA. Our analysis detects that it is built on a supported underlying ZIP compression format, meaning viewing or conversion to standard archives may still be possible.

Convert.Guru analyzes your QDZ file, detects the exact format, and lets you read the text inside.
