Convert a file to QDV
To convert other file formats to the "Cost Estimating Data" file type, you need software like QDV (Quick Devis) or a similar tool.
About QDV files
A .qdv file typically represents a proprietary Project Estimate created by QDV (Quick Devis), a specialized software for costing, pricing, and quotation. These files often utilize a ZIP-compressed container to store complex Work Breakdown Structures (WBS), resource rates, and overhead calculations. Users frequently struggle to open these files because they are strictly locked to the QDV environment; you cannot view the estimate in standard tools like Microsoft Excel or a web browser without conversion.
To view or share the content, the file must be opened in QDV and exported to more accessible formats like PDF (for finalized quotes), DOCX (for proposals), or XLSX (for data analysis).
Note: A .qdv file may alternatively be a Quick Dedup Vault file generated by MSP360 (formerly CloudBerry Backup). In this context, the file is a deduplicated data chunk used internally by the backup system to save storage space. These are binary system files and should not be converted or modified manually, as doing so will corrupt your backup chain.

The QDV Converter Story
The history of Convert.Guru began over 25 years ago in California with Tom Simondi’s file-format database. A former contributor to Space Shuttle development and a software pioneer of the 1980s, Simondi established a trusted resource for file type analysis that was even referenced by Microsoft Windows XP. Today, we use modern technology to process and convert thousands of file formats while continually improving our QDV converter.
