Convert a file to QDV
To convert other file formats to the "Project Estimate & Backup" file type, you need software like Quick Devis or a similar tool.
About QDV files
A .QDV file typically serves one of two completely different purposes. It is either a project estimate and quote file created by Quick Devis (QDV), or a deduplicated backup data chunk generated by MSP360 (CloudBerry Backup).
Quick Devis files are used by engineers and estimators to build complex pricing models. The primary disadvantage of this format is its proprietary nature. Sharing a .QDV file with clients or vendors is impossible unless they also own a specialized, paid Quick Devis license. To share data, users must manually export the file to standard formats like XLSX or PDF from within the application itself. Because this file is a closed format, standard online converters fail to process it.
The Quick Devis .QDV file is structurally just a standard ZIP archive under the hood. Just drag and drop your file to identify the format, view it, and convert it when possible. convert.guru can inspect the file, extract the internal XML or database contents, and show text data. If our analysis detects a supported underlying or embedded format, viewing or conversion may still be possible.
The second type of .QDV file is a Quick Dedup Vault chunk. These files store fragmented, deduplicated backup data. They are extremely difficult to open or convert because they do not contain complete documents. They only contain raw binary blocks managed by the MSP360 database. You cannot convert a backup chunk into a readable file directly. Often, only the original backup software can properly read or restore this data.

The QDV Converter Story
The history of Convert.Guru began over 25 years ago in California with Tom Simondi’s file-format database. A former contributor to Space Shuttle development and a software pioneer of the 1980s, Simondi established a trusted resource for file type analysis that was even referenced by Microsoft Windows XP. Today, we use modern technology to process and convert thousands of file formats while continually improving our QDV converter.
