To convert QDFM data files to another format, you need Quicken or other Database software.

Convert a file to QDFM

To convert other file formats to the "Financial Database File" file type, you need software like Quicken or a similar tool.

About QDFM files

The .QDFM file format stores financial data exclusively for the macOS version of Quicken. It acts as a local database containing sensitive personal finance information, including bank account balances, transaction histories, budgets, category rules, and investment portfolios.

The main disadvantage of the .QDFM format is its highly proprietary nature. You need an expensive, active subscription to Quicken for Mac just to read the file. Furthermore, the format is OS-locked; a .QDFM file cannot be opened directly by Quicken for Windows, which uses the separate QDF format. Because it is a closed database, it is completely inaccessible via web browsers or standard spreadsheet software like Microsoft Excel.

Users typically need to convert .QDFM files when migrating to other accounting platforms, securely sharing data with an accountant, or performing custom data analysis. The best conversion targets are CSV for raw spreadsheet data manipulation, QIF (Quicken Interchange Format) for legacy software imports, and OFX or QFX for broader financial ecosystem integration.

Because .QDFM is a closed, often encrypted database format, standard online converters completely fail to process it. Usually, only the original software can properly decrypt, read, and export the structured financial data. If our analysis detects an unencrypted underlying database structure, viewing raw text or partial extraction may still be possible.

Convert.Guru analyzes your QDFM file, detects the exact format, and lets you read the text inside.
