Convert a file to PYM
To convert other file formats to the "Financial Report" file type, you need software like Paychex Flex or a similar tool.
About PYM files
A .PYM file is primarily a proprietary financial report container generated by Paychex, a leading provider of payroll and human resource solutions. These files are typically created by the Paychex Report Manager and contain critical year-end tax data, payroll summaries, or employee records.
A common issue for users is that .PYM files are designed for the internal Paychex ecosystem and cannot be opened directly by standard office software like Microsoft Excel or Adobe Acrobat. Users often encounter these files when retrieving archived tax documents (like W-2s or 1099s) and find themselves unable to view the data without active Paychex software access. In some cases, the file is simply a PDF with a modified extension, but often it is a specific proprietary format that requires conversion.
For most users, the goal is to convert these files into PDF for printing and submission to tax authorities (IRS), or to CSV/XLSX for accounting analysis in spreadsheets. A secondary, much rarer use (less than 1%) is as a PYthon Macro preprocessor file used by developers for code templating.
Convert.Guru analyzes your PYM file, detects the exact format, and lets you read the text inside.
If you want to convert PYM file to PDF, TMP, TEMP, CACHE, LOG, BAK, OLD, NEW, PART, DOWNLOAD, CRDOWNLOAD or LOCK, you can use Paychex Flex or similar software from the "Payroll Data Storage" category. In the File menu, look for Save As… or Export….
To convert DEVICE, CACHE, SOCK, SYMLINK, PID, MOUNT, FIFO, LOG, PIPE, TMP, JUNCTION or TEMP files to PYM, try Paychex Flex or another comparable tool in the "Payroll Data Storage" category.
The PYM Converter Story
The history of Convert.Guru began over 25 years ago in California with Tom Simondi’s file-format database. A former contributor to Space Shuttle development and a software pioneer of the 1980s, Simondi established a trusted resource for file type analysis that was even referenced by Microsoft Windows XP. Today, we use modern technology to process and convert thousands of file formats while continually improving our PYM converter.
