About PXJ files

A .pxj file is a disc authoring project created by Roxio RecordNow (formerly Sonic RecordNow). It acts as a blueprint or "recipe" for burning CDs and DVDs, containing references to audio tracks, video files, and data locations on your hard drive rather than the actual media content itself. Users often attempt to convert these files expecting to recover music or videos, only to find the file size is just a few kilobytes. Because the .pxj format is a proprietary list of instructions, it cannot be directly converted to standard media formats like MP3 or MP4 using online converters. To use this file, you must open it in the original RecordNow software on a PC that still has the referenced source files in their original file paths.

Security Warning: If your personal documents or photos have suddenly been renamed with a .pxj extension (e.g., photo.jpg.pxj) and you cannot open them, your system may be infected with Pxj Ransomware. In this case, the file is not a disc project but an encrypted version of your data.

Convert.Guru analyzes your PXJ file, detects the exact format, and lets you read the text inside.
