For Matrix42 Empirum, a .PWC file acts as an installation wrapper and is essentially a compiled EXE (executable) file.
The main disadvantage of the .PWC format is its heavily proprietary nature. You cannot open a password cache file in standard text editors or browsers, as it contains application-specific binary state data. Similarly, Matrix42 packages are compiled and locked down to execute specific deployment tasks. This makes them practically useless outside their original software ecosystems.
