About PTNX files
The .ptnx file is an EasyBeadPatterns Pattern used specifically for designing bead weaving projects. It stores layout data, grid sizes, bead color palettes, and stitch types (like Peyote, Brick, or Loom). The only software that natively creates and opens this format is EasyBeadPatterns, developed by Michael Hemphill. This format is highly proprietary and extremely limited outside of its native ecosystem. It requires users to download and install a specific desktop application. Mobile devices and web browsers cannot open it natively, which causes frustrating compatibility issues when crafters try to share or sell their designs online. To make these patterns accessible, users must convert .ptnx files to universal formats like PDF, JPG, or PNG. Converting to PDF is ideal because it preserves the visual bead layout alongside the essential word chart and color list. Because .ptnx is a closed, proprietary data format, standard online converters fail to process it. Only the original software understands how to render the exact grid coordinates into a visual pattern. If our analysis detects a supported underlying structure or embedded preview images, viewing or conversion may still be possible without the original software.
Convert.Guru analyzes your PTNX file, detects the exact format, and lets you read the text inside.

The PTNX Converter Story
The history of Convert.Guru began over 25 years ago in California with Tom Simondi’s file-format database. A former contributor to Space Shuttle development and a software pioneer of the 1980s, Simondi established a trusted resource for file type analysis that was even referenced by Microsoft Windows XP. Today, we use modern technology to process and convert thousands of file formats while continually improving our PTNX converter.
