About PS1XML files

A .ps1xml file is an XML-based configuration document used by Microsoft Windows PowerShell to define how .NET objects are formatted and displayed in the system console. You can typically open or edit these files using specialized code editors like Microsoft Visual Studio Code or Notepad++. As a heavily specialized administrative file, it is practically useless outside of a Windows environment. The deeply nested XML tags make it verbose and frustrating to read for human users, and modifying it without understanding the strict schema will break your PowerShell display outputs. If you need to review the data, converting it to standard XML, TXT, or JSON is the best approach. However, because this format is a closed, proprietary configuration map built for Microsoft's ecosystem, standard online converters usually fail to process it. If our analysis detects a supported underlying or embedded format, viewing or conversion may still be possible.

Convert.Guru analyzes your PS1XML file, detects the exact format, and lets you read the text inside.
