About PMA files
A .PMA file is primarily a Persistent Metrics Allocator file used by the Chromium open-source browser project. Web browsers like Google Chrome and Microsoft Edge use this format to store telemetry, performance metrics, and crash data on disk. A secondary use for .PMA files is as a dashboard animation file for the Prism3D engine in the game Euro Truck Simulator 2. The main disadvantage of the .PMA format is that it is heavily proprietary and entirely system-managed. Users cannot natively open, read, or edit these files without specialized debugging tools. The binary structure makes standard analysis impossible for casual users, and these files often accumulate in browser profile directories, consuming unwanted disk space. Extracting readable data from a .PMA file to standard formats like TXT, CSV, or JSON is highly requested but natively unsupported by normal software. Because this is a closed, proprietary format, standard online converters fail to process it.
