About PLSC files

A .PLSC file is a plugin script package originally created for Messenger Plus! Live, a once-popular extension for Windows Live Messenger (formerly MSN Messenger). Under the hood, these files are standard ZIP archives containing JScript (.js) files, XML layouts, and various media assets like PNG or MP3 files to customize the chat interface.

The major disadvantage of the .PLSC format is that it relies on completely obsolete software. Microsoft retired Windows Live Messenger in 2013, and the Messenger Plus! addon is dead. Modern operating systems do not recognize the .PLSC extension, meaning a double-click will simply throw an error. Furthermore, because this is a closed, proprietary plugin wrapper, standard online document converters fail to process it.

The best way to handle these files today is to treat them as archives. You want to extract the contents to ZIP so you can access the underlying JS and XML source code.
