Convert PJ2 to another file type
To convert PJ2 documents to another format, you need xPlan or other Data software.
Convert a file to PJ2
To convert other file formats to the "Project Management Document" file type, you need software like xPlan or a similar tool.
About PJ2 files
A .pj2 file is an xPlan Document developed by adnx to store complex project management data. It contains timelines, budget allocations, resource scheduling, and milestones for projects managed within the xPlan ecosystem on macOS and iOS.
Users frequently need to convert .pj2 files because the format is entirely proprietary and closed. If you switch to modern platforms like Jira, Asana, or Microsoft Project, those applications cannot import a .pj2 file natively. This vendor lock-in is highly problematic if you no longer have access to an Apple device or an active software license. To migrate or share your data, the best target formats are CSV for spreadsheet databases, XML for software data migration, or PDF to preserve visual timelines and Gantt charts.
This file format is exceptionally difficult to open or convert externally. Because the internal data architecture is undocumented, standard online converters fail to parse the project links, task dependencies, and resource allocations. Emphasize that often only the original xPlan software can properly read or export the data. If our analysis detects a supported underlying or embedded format, viewing or conversion may still be possible.
Convert.Guru analyzes your PJ2 file, detects the exact format, and lets you read the text inside.
If you want to convert PJ2 file to CSV, JSON, XML, YAML, YML, TOML, INI, CFG, CONF, DAT, DB or SQL, you can use xPlan or similar software from the "Project Management Data Storage" category. In the File menu, look for Save As… or Export….
To convert DBF, XML, SQLITE, XLSX, SQL, TSV, ACCDB, YAML, MDB, CSV, ODS or JSON files to PJ2, try xPlan or another comparable tool in the "Project Management Data Storage" category.
The PJ2 Converter Story
The history of Convert.Guru began over 25 years ago in California with Tom Simondi’s file-format database. A former contributor to Space Shuttle development and a software pioneer of the 1980s, Simondi established a trusted resource for file type analysis that was even referenced by Microsoft Windows XP. Today, we use modern technology to process and convert thousands of file formats while continually improving our PJ2 converter.
