The .PFV file extension is used to store PhotoFiltre Studio Vectorial Paths. These files contain mathematical coordinates, curves, and nodes that define precise selections, masks, or shapes within an image project. They are exclusively used by PhotoFiltre Studio, a lightweight image editing software developed by Antonio Da Cruz for the Windows operating system.
The main disadvantage of the .PFV format is strict vendor lock-in. It is a closed, proprietary file format that lacks public documentation. Because it is highly specialized, standard vector graphic software like Adobe Illustrator, CorelDRAW, or Inkscape cannot open or interpret .PFV files natively. Users are forced to maintain a paid license of PhotoFiltre Studio running on Windows just to access their path data.
Ideally, vector paths should be converted to an open standard like SVG for broad compatibility, or rasterized to PNG with a transparent background if you only need the visual output. However, extracting this data without the original software is extremely difficult.
