About PEKEY files

The .pekey file is a proprietary license key format used to activate PhysicsEditor, a 2D collision shape generation tool created by CodeAndWeb. These files contain the encrypted alphanumeric strings required to unlock the full features of the software. The primary disadvantage of the .pekey format is its highly restricted nature. It is a closed, proprietary file designed exclusively for one application. You cannot open it natively in standard text editors without seeing garbled hash data, and it serves no purpose outside the PhysicsEditor ecosystem. Users often struggle with these files when trying to retrieve their license information for backup or migration purposes. Converting a .pekey file to standard formats like TXT or PDF is generally not recommended if you want to keep the file functional. However, if you simply need to extract the raw text or inspect the encoded string, converting to TXT is the most practical target. This file format is exceptionally difficult to open or convert because it is specifically designed to prevent tampering. Standard online converters fail because they do not recognize the proprietary schema.

Convert.Guru analyzes your PEKEY file, detects the exact format, and lets you read the text inside.
