About PDEX files

The .pdex file is an Orient Computer Encrypted Data File created by Orient Computer security software. It is used to securely package and encrypt sensitive data for safe transmission.

Because it is a proprietary, encrypted container, the .pdex format is essentially a black box. This brings significant real-world disadvantages: it requires a specific corporate software license to open, and you must have the correct decryption password or key. It is completely unsupported by standard web browsers, document viewers, or basic operating system tools.

Converting a .pdex file directly using standard online tools is technically impossible because the internal payload is scrambled. Standard converters cannot read the encrypted bytes to transform them into target formats like PDF or DOCX. To get usable files, you must use the original software to decrypt the package, and then save the revealed contents into a standard format.

This is a closed, proprietary format heavily restricted by its encryption layer. While we cannot break the encryption, our analysis will tell you exactly what software you need to open it, saving you time and frustration.

Convert.Guru analyzes your PDEX file, detects the exact format, and lets you read the text inside.

The PDEX Converter Story

The history of Convert.Guru began over 25 years ago in California with Tom Simondi’s file-format database. A former contributor to Space Shuttle development and a software pioneer of the 1980s, Simondi established a trusted resource for file type analysis that was even referenced by Microsoft Windows XP. Today, we use modern technology to process and convert thousands of file formats while continually improving our PDEX converter.
