About OSZ2 files
An .osz2 file is an encrypted beatmap archive used by the popular rhythm game osu!. It bundles audio tracks, background images, and gameplay beat timing data into a single downloadable package.
The format was developed by peppy to secure game assets, which makes it highly restrictive. Unlike the older OSZ format - which is merely a renamed ZIP archive - an .osz2 file is encrypted. This presents significant disadvantages: it is strictly proprietary, locks away the internal media, and cannot be opened by standard archive managers like WinRAR or 7-Zip. Users are forced to rely on the official game client just to access the files.
Typically, users want to extract or convert these archives into standard MP3 files for music playback, JPG or PNG files for wallpapers, and OSU text files to edit the beatmap manually.
Because .osz2 is a closed, encrypted format, standard online converters fail to process it. Often, only the original osu! software can properly decrypt and export the data. If our analysis detects a supported underlying or embedded format, viewing or conversion may still be possible.
Convert.Guru analyzes your OSZ2 file, detects the exact format, and lets you read the text inside.
