About OPM files
The .OPM file extension serves multiple distinct industries, creating significant confusion for users trying to open one. Most commonly (approx. 34%), it is a Romanian bulk payment file generated by BCR Click 24 e-banking software. These files contain sensitive financial transaction lists (like salary transfers) in a rigid, proprietary text format that typical spreadsheet software like Microsoft Excel cannot parse correctly without manual intervention. Alternatively, an .OPM file is an OTRS Package (OTRS Package Manager), an XML-based archive used to install extensions or plugins into the OTRS (Open Ticket Request System) helpdesk platform. These packages are effectively locked containers for code; trying to open them in a standard text editor often results in a jumble of encoded data. A third common variant contains optical power meter test data from EXFO devices, used in fiber optic testing. Users typically need to convert these files to gain access to the raw data. For banking and test data, the best target is CSV or XLSX for analysis. For OTRS packages, converting or extracting to XML allows developers to inspect the source code.
