About OLS files

The .OLS file format is primarily an ECU tuning project file created by WinOLS, a specialized software by EVC electronic used for automotive chiptuning. These files store raw engine management data, memory maps, modifications, and vehicle details. A rare secondary use is as a Microsoft Office List Shortcut. The main disadvantage of the .OLS format is its highly proprietary nature. It is designed to protect a tuner's intellectual property. Files are frequently encrypted or locked with 'NoRead' tags. You cannot open these files in standard hex editors, and purchasing a legitimate WinOLS license is expensive. Users typically want to convert .OLS to standard .BIN or .HEX raw dumps to flash the modified file back to a vehicle's Engine Control Unit (ECU). Because this is a closed, proprietary format, standard online converters fail to process it. Only the original software can properly read, decrypt, or export the data.
