The .OLL extension represents a dichotomy in file handling: it is either a proprietary system binary or a convertible litigation text file.

1. OpenText Content Server OScript Library (Most Common)

Approximately 84% of .OLL files are compiled object libraries used by OpenText Content Server (formerly Livelink). These are binary "OSpaces" containing compiled OScript code, SQL logic, or proprietary modules.

The Problem: These are system-level binaries. They are not "documents" and cannot be opened in Word or converted to PDF. Attempting to force-open them in a text editor usually reveals gibberish or a "PK" header if compressed.
The Solution: There is no user-facing converter. These files must be loaded directly into the Content Server environment by an administrator.

2. TrialDirector Object Load List (Convertible)

In the legal field, an .OLL file is a structured ASCII text file used by TrialDirector 360 (by IPRO, formerly inData) to organize case exhibits.

The Problem: While it is just text, the formatting is specific to TrialDirector, making it hard to read raw.
The Solution: Because this is a Load File, it can be easily converted. Users often convert these to CSV (Comma Separated Values) or XLSX to view the document list in Microsoft Excel.
