.OLL files are primarily Content Server compiled modules or Livelink Object modules utilized by OpenText Content Server. They function as compiled library files storing enterprise content management logic, configurations, or database records. In rare legal scenarios, .OLL acts as a TrialDirector Object Load List used by TrialDirector software from inData to batch-load evidence.
A major disadvantage of the .OLL format is its proprietary nature. Users outside the OpenText ecosystem cannot easily open these files, and licensing the official enterprise software is extremely expensive. The files are binary and not supported by web browsers or standard office suites, locking your data behind an obscure enterprise extension.
To access the trapped data, you generally need to convert the .OLL file to standard, open database formats like SQL, CSV, or DB. Be aware that converting compiled business logic often results in a loss of software-specific functionality, leaving you with only raw data tables and text.
