About OIF files
The .OIF extension typically refers to an Olympus Image File, a configuration file used by Evident (formerly Olympus) FluoView software for confocal microscopy. This file is actually just a text-based index (similar to an INI file) that contains metadata and points to a separate directory of data files (usually .TIFF or .PTY) where the actual images are stored. The problem users face is that sharing just the .OIF file is useless - it is merely a "map" without the territory. To view the image, you must have the accompanying folder. Users often need to convert these complex multi-file datasets into a single, portable format like OME-TIFF or standard TIFF for analysis in third-party tools like ImageJ or Fiji.
Less frequently, .OIF refers to a proprietary accounting database or configuration file used by Tally Solutions software (such as Tally.ERP 9 or TallyPrime). These are internal system files (sometimes related to licensing capsules or banking modules) and are not designed to be opened manually by users. Practical friction occurs when users find these files during a backup and attempt to open them in Excel, which results in gibberish or errors.
Convert.Guru analyzes your OIF file, detects the exact format, and lets you read the text inside.
Users also converted WEBP, JFIF, CAP, OLF, JPG, OIR, LSM and JFG files.
The OIF Converter Story
The history of Convert.Guru began over 25 years ago in California with Tom Simondi’s file-format database. A former contributor to Space Shuttle development and a software pioneer of the 1980s, Simondi established a trusted resource for file type analysis that was even referenced by Microsoft Windows XP. Today, we use modern technology to process and convert thousands of file formats while continually improving our OIF converter.
