About OCE files

The .OCE file extension is a container for data, yet it suffers from an identity crisis across three distinct legacy and modern ecosystems. Primarily, these are Brio Query files (now part of the Oracle Hyperion suite), used to store database connection strings and query logic for Business Intelligence reporting. Because Brio software reached its end-of-life years ago, these files are often "orphaned," leaving users with valuable business logic locked in a proprietary binary format that modern BI tools cannot natively import.

Secondly, modern users frequently encounter .OCE files as exports from the Oracle Cloud Cost Estimator. While useful for importing back into Oracle's ecosystem, these raw data files are often unreadable to stakeholders who simply need a budget report.

Finally, the extension serves as an Open Catalog Extension file for establishing connections in older Oracle BI dashboards.

Practical Conversion Targets:

Convert.Guru analyzes your OCE file, detects the exact format, and lets you read the text inside.

Users also converted SHAREDVIEW and SDE files.

The OCE Converter Story

The history of Convert.Guru began over 25 years ago in California with Tom Simondi’s file-format database. A former contributor to Space Shuttle development and a software pioneer of the 1980s, Simondi established a trusted resource for file type analysis that was even referenced by Microsoft Windows XP. Today, we use modern technology to process and convert thousands of file formats while continually improving our OCE converter.
