About OC5 files
.OC5 is an openCanvas 5 Event File created by openCanvas, a digital painting software developed by Portalgraphics. Unlike standard image files that store static pixel grids, the .OC5 format stores the actual drawing process. It records every brush stroke, color change, and layer adjustment so the drawing sequence can be replayed from start to finish.
This architecture creates severe disadvantages for daily use and sharing. The format is strictly proprietary. It requires the specific openCanvas software to open, offers no native web browser support, and cannot be viewed by clients, colleagues, or mobile devices. Standard online converters fail to process .OC5 files because they lack the proprietary rendering engine required to interpret the complex event log.
To share your final artwork, you must convert the file to standard raster formats like PNG, JPG, or PSD (for layered editing). Note that exporting to a flat image format permanently discards the stroke history playback feature. Even with closed formats, our analysis can sometimes detect and extract embedded preview thumbnails.
Convert.Guru analyzes your OC5 file, detects the exact format, and lets you read the text inside.
