Extract text from backup files (OBK)

The .OBK file extension is highly fragmented and used by several completely different software applications, mostly for backup purposes. Most commonly, it functions as a pCon project backup file created by pCon.planner, a professional 3D room planning application. In this context, the file is essentially a renamed ZIP archive containing 3D models and layout data. Other significant uses include legacy Nokia phone backups created by Oxygen Phone Manager, SQLite-based OBook electronic book files used by GoldenDict, and Chess opening book files used by chess engines like ChessBase or Booot.
Because the .OBK extension is shared across so many unrelated programs, dealing with it can be highly frustrating. A file might contain 3D CAD data, an SQL dictionary database, or old SMS text messages from a 2005 mobile phone. Without the exact original software, these files are effectively useless and often proprietary. For example, opening a legacy Nokia backup requires obsolete software that will not run on modern operating systems. Standard online converters completely fail to process these files because they cannot guess which of the five different formats the file actually uses.
If your file is a pCon backup, you can convert it simply by renaming the extension to ZIP to extract the internal contents. If it is an OBook file, it functions as an SQL database that can be queried with standard database tools to extract text. For other types, direct conversion to universal formats like PDF or CSV is rarely possible without data loss.
