The .NWP file extension is primarily associated with Nintex Workflow, a leading process automation platform for Microsoft SharePoint and Office 365. These files function as portable compressed packages - technically ZIP archives - that contain the XML definitions, configuration logic, and metadata required to transfer workflows between environments (e.g., from Development to Production). A common difficulty for users is the "black box" nature of these files; without a running Nintex environment, the logic inside is inaccessible, making it difficult to audit, document, or version-control the workflow externally. These legacy binary files store material definitions (textures, lighting) for older versions of Navisworks (pre-2015) and are often incompatible with modern rendering engines, requiring manual recreation of materials.
