About NTN files

A .ntn file is a proprietary digital music score created by PreSonus Notion, originally developed by VirtuosoWorks. These files contain comprehensive musical notation, instrument mappings, tempo instructions, and playback data used by composers to write and arrange music. The main disadvantage of the .ntn format is that it is entirely closed and proprietary. If you try to share a Notion score with musicians or composers who use different notation software like Sibelius, Finale, or MuseScore, they will be unable to open it. It is also completely invisible to standard text editors, web browsers, and standard audio players. To make the musical data accessible and collaborative, the file should be exported to MusicXML (.musicxml) for editing in other notation software, or Standard MIDI (.mid) if you only need the raw note sequence for a Digital Audio Workstation. If you just need to print or share the sheet music visually, exporting to PDF is the most reliable option. Because .ntn is a complex binary package combining visual page layouts and playback definitions, standard online converters often fail to process it. Typically, you must open the file in the original software to export it properly. If our analysis detects a supported underlying or embedded format, viewing or conversion may still be possible.
