About NM7 files

The .nm7 file format is a proprietary map data container created by Navitel for their Navitel Navigator software. These files store highly compressed vector map data, Points of Interest (POIs), speed limit information, and proprietary routing algorithms used by mobile and standalone GPS devices. Because the .nm7 format is closed-source and undocumented, it is notoriously difficult to open outside the Navitel ecosystem. Mainstream GIS applications like QGIS or standard GPS devices from Garmin cannot read these files. Users are forced to rely on the official Navitel app, which restricts how the map data can be exported, modified, or shared. If you need to use this map data in other applications, the ideal target formats are GPX for track and waypoint data, or KML for viewing in standard mapping tools. However, converting .nm7 files usually strips away the proprietary routing logic and 3D building data, leaving only basic vector geometries. Converting .nm7 files directly is technically challenging. Usually, only the original software can properly read or export the data. If our analysis detects a supported underlying or embedded format, viewing or conversion may still be possible.
