The .NLP extension is a notoriously ambiguous filename used by several completely different software ecosystems, making it a frequent source of frustration for users trying to open one. Most commonly (approx. 16%), it is a Unicode normalization data file used by ICU (International Components for Unicode) to handle text processing across languages. Closely following this usage is Nuance (14%), which uses the format for Vocalizer text-to-speech voice data. These binary files are essentially "black boxes" - proprietary and not designed for user editing.
However, a significant number of users encounter .NLP files in educational or testing environments (8%), where the file is actually a RAR archive renamed by TestPro software. In this specific case, the file often contains a hidden PDF or exam data that users desperately need to access but cannot because standard PDF readers reject the .nlp extension. Other variants include configuration text files for NirLauncher or Corel WordPerfect.
Because of this fragmentation, there is no single "NLP Viewer." If you are looking to extract document content (like an exam paper), your best bet is converting the file as an archive to retrieve the PDF inside.
