The .nlp file extension is a highly fragmented format used by several completely unrelated software ecosystems. Primarily, it functions as a Unicode normalization data file managed by ICU4C. It is also frequently used as a Text-to-Speech voice data file for the Nuance Vocalizer engine or as a TestPro exam data file.
Other software, such as Dividia Technologies DView, uses .nlp for network launcher packages, while legacy systems like Corel WordPerfect use it for National Language Parameters.
Because the .nlp extension is shared among totally different applications, users face immediate frustration when trying to open them. Standard operating systems cannot natively identify which specific software created a given .nlp file. Furthermore, most of these are closed, proprietary system files that are not meant to be opened manually. Without the exact original software installed, these files appear as useless, unreadable data.
Converting a raw system data file directly is usually impossible, but some .nlp variants hide standard, extractable formats. For example, TestPro .nlp files are actually disguised RAR archives containing PDF documents. Similarly, Dividia network launchers are just plain-text JSON files. Your best target formats are PDF or JSON, depending on what the file actually hides.
This extreme fragmentation is why standard online converters fail to process them. They only look at the file extension and give up. We can inspect the file's internal signature.
