About NBE files

An .NBE file is a vulnerability scan report generated by network security tools like Nessus, Nikto, or Nmap. It contains raw log data about security vulnerabilities, open ports, and system configurations discovered during a network audit. The format is primarily associated with Tenable Network Security's Nessus scanner, a popular tool used by security professionals to analyze network postures. The main disadvantage of the .NBE format is its rigid, specialized structure. It is essentially plain text but heavily delimited using pipe characters, making it extremely difficult for non-technical stakeholders to read. You cannot easily open it in standard office software without formatting issues, and sharing raw .NBE files with management or clients is impractical. Users typically need to convert .NBE to .CSV, .XML, or .HTML for integration into dashboards or to create readable reports. Because .NBE is an older, legacy reporting format largely replaced by modern XML files, standard online converters fail to parse the specific delimiter structure correctly.

Convert.Guru analyzes your NBE file, detects the exact format, and lets you read the text inside.

Users also converted NESSUS, NASL and NSR files.

The NBE Converter Story

The history of Convert.Guru began over 25 years ago in California with Tom Simondi’s file-format database. A former contributor to Space Shuttle development and a software pioneer of the 1980s, Simondi established a trusted resource for file type analysis that was even referenced by Microsoft Windows XP. Today, we use modern technology to process and convert thousands of file formats while continually improving our NBE converter.
