About MXC files

The .mxc extension is associated with two distinct proprietary environments, creating a common source of confusion for users.

Most frequently, it functions as an auxiliary Audio Cache File or session component generated by MAGIX Music Maker (and legacy software like Syntrillium Cool Edit Pro). In this context, the file often utilizes a RIFF container structure but does not always contain playable audio. A major problem is that users find these files alongside their actual recordings (e.g., recording.wav.mxc) and attempt to play them, only to find they are merely graphical waveform representations or metadata caches. They are proprietary, small in size, and cannot be "converted" to MP3 or WAV if they only contain visual data; you typically need the original source audio file instead.

Alternatively, within the architecture and design sector, the file represents a CAD Material Catalog used by Corpus CAD or the interior design software PRO100. These files act as databases storing textures, furniture dimensions, and pricing information. They are strictly locked to the specific CAD environment. Users often need to convert these catalogs to PDF for inventory lists or extract embedded textures to JPG or PNG for use in other rendering engines like Blender.

Convert.Guru analyzes your MXC file, detects the exact format, and lets you read the text inside.

Users also converted IXC, TFW and BIL files.
