About MX4 files

The .mx4 file extension represents a Mixcraft 4 Audio Project file created by Acoustica Mixcraft. It stores multitrack audio layouts, MIDI sequencing data, virtual instrument presets, effect chains, volume automation curves, and file paths to external audio recordings. It does not contain actual audio waveform data itself.

Being a proprietary project file, it suffers from several distinct disadvantages. It is completely useless without the original source audio assets (like WAV or MP3 files) stored locally on the user's hard drive. It locks users into a specific legacy version of a Windows-only Digital Audio Workstation (DAW) and requires a paid license to export. Furthermore, it is not supported by web browsers, standard media players, or alternative audio editors.

Users typically want to convert an .mx4 project to standard audio formats like WAV, MP3, or FLAC to share the final stereo mixdown. Alternatively, producers may want to export the internal sequence to MID (MIDI) to migrate their musical notes to another DAW like Ableton Live or FL Studio.

Because this is a closed, proprietary format that lacks embedded audio, standard online converters fail to process it into a listenable track. Only the original Acoustica software can properly read the file paths and render the mix. If our analysis detects supported underlying text or embedded MIDI configurations, viewing or partial conversion may still be possible.

Convert.Guru analyzes your MX4 file, detects the exact format, and lets you read the text inside.

Users also converted MXF, PDF, MP4 and ICC files.
