About MGMT files

The .mgmt file is a proprietary template format used by older versions of MindGenius (specifically versions 2 and 3), a desktop mind mapping and project management application. These files store predefined branch layouts, node styles, color schemes, and project structures to help users start new mind maps quickly. Because .mgmt is a closed, legacy format, users face significant disadvantages. You cannot open these files in a web browser, share them with non-MindGenius users, or view them on mobile devices. The format requires a specific, paid desktop software environment to read natively, which creates a frustrating vendor lock-in. If you need to share the layout, the best conversion targets are PDF or PNG files. For data migration, exporting to standard XML or MMAP is recommended, though proprietary styling and interactive elements will likely be lost during the transfer. This file format is exceptionally difficult to open or convert because it lacks public documentation. Standard online converters fail to process it because often only the original MindGenius software can properly read or export the structured data.
