To convert other file formats to the "MEP Fabrication Job" file type, you need software like Autodesk Fabrication or a similar tool.

About MAJ files

A .MAJ file is a proprietary manufacturing job file used by the Autodesk Fabrication suite (CADmep, ESTmep, and CAMduct). Unlike standard CAD files, it contains highly specific fabrication data - such as ductwork seams, connector types, insulation specifications, and nesting logic - necessary for controlling CNC machines.

The Problem: Because .MAJ files are designed for the closed ecosystem of MEP (Mechanical, Electrical, and Plumbing) contractors, they are functionally 'invisible' to standard software. You cannot open them in vanilla AutoCAD or Revit without installing specialized (and often expensive) Object Enablers or extensions. This creates a major bottleneck when sharing models with architects, general contractors, or clients who just need to see the geometry or check the costs.

The Solution:

Convert.Guru analyzes your MAJ file, detects the exact format, and lets you read the text inside.

Users also converted DWG, MI, IGR and DWB files.

The MAJ Converter Story

The history of Convert.Guru began over 25 years ago in California with Tom Simondi’s file-format database. A former contributor to Space Shuttle development and a software pioneer of the 1980s, Simondi established a trusted resource for file type analysis that was even referenced by Microsoft Windows XP. Today, we use modern technology to process and convert thousands of file formats while continually improving our MAJ converter.
