Convert a file to LWD
To convert other file formats to the "Proprietary Data File" file type, you need software like LabVIEW or a similar tool.
About LWD files
The .LWD file format is a highly fragmented, proprietary extension used by several completely different software applications. Its primary uses include navigation system map data for Logicom devices, diagram files in LabVIEW, directional drilling data logs for Digital Control Inc. (DCI) Falcon systems, and legacy business process models in Logic Works BPwin (now part of BMC). Additionally, it occasionally appears as a scene file for LightWave 3D or a data file in EditShare Lightworks. Because the .LWD extension is shared across unrelated industries, users face significant challenges. The main disadvantage is strict vendor lock-in. These files are typically closed, undocumented binary formats. A standard text editor or generic viewer cannot read them. They require the exact original software to interpret the data. Furthermore, an .LWD file from an underground drilling log will instantly crash a 3D modeling application trying to read the same extension. You must pay for expensive, specialized software subscriptions to access your own data. Converting .LWD files is difficult. Standard online converters fail to process them because there is no universal standard for the extension. If you have a drilling log or a business model, your best conversion targets are universally readable formats like CSV, XLSX, or PDF. If you have a 3D scene, you should export to OBJ or FBX. This file format is exceptionally difficult to open or convert without the parent application. Often, only the original software can properly read or export the embedded data. However, you can still use convert.guru. Just drag and drop your file to identify the format, inspect the file structure, and show internal text content. If our analysis detects a supported underlying or embedded format, viewing or conversion may still be possible.
Convert.Guru analyzes your LWD file, detects the exact format, and lets you read the text inside.
If you want to convert LWD file to PDF, EPUB, MOBI, AZW, AZW3, KFX, PRC, LIT, OPF, CBZ, CBR or CB7, you can use LabVIEW or similar software from the "Specialized Data Storage" category. In the File menu, look for Save As… or Export….
To convert FB2, MOBI, CBT, RTF, CB7, DOCX, DJVU, AZW, CBA, PDF, DOC or EPUB files to LWD, try LabVIEW or another comparable tool in the "Specialized Data Storage" category.
The LWD Converter Story
The history of Convert.Guru began over 25 years ago in California with Tom Simondi’s file-format database. A former contributor to Space Shuttle development and a software pioneer of the 1980s, Simondi established a trusted resource for file type analysis that was even referenced by Microsoft Windows XP. Today, we use modern technology to process and convert thousands of file formats while continually improving our LWD converter.
