The .LP7 file functions as an Electronically Timestamped Archive or a Digitally Signed File. Created primarily by Lex Persona, this format packages electronic documents with a cryptographic signature and timestamp to prove they existed at a specific time and remain unaltered.
While highly secure, the .LP7 format is frustratingly restrictive for daily use. It is a proprietary cryptographic container. You cannot open it natively in web browsers, standard text editors, or default operating system viewers. To view the internal files or verify the signatures, you typically must install specific, localized software like the Lex Persona suite or HoroSun tools. This creates major bottlenecks when you need to share the underlying documents with clients or colleagues who do not have the required software installed.
To make the contents usable, you usually need to extract or convert the archive. For general reading and sharing, extracting the internal documents to standard PDF or XML formats is best. For universal storage, converting the container to a standard ZIP archive makes the files accessible on any operating system. Note that extracting the internal files will break the cryptographic seal, meaning the extracted documents lose their legal timestamp validity.
