About LNB files

An .LNB file is predominantly a data archive created by the LabNotebook feature on Teledyne LeCroy oscilloscopes running the MAUI interface. It is designed to save the complete state of the instrument by bundling waveform data, panel settings, and a screen capture into a single file. A much smaller subset of .LNB files are link analysis charts used by intelligence software like i2 Analyst's Notebook or near-field scanner data from KEFA.

The primary disadvantage of an .LNB file is its proprietary nature. It is a closed, single-vendor container meant strictly for sharing oscilloscope states between hardware units or proprietary offline software. You cannot open it natively in Windows or macOS, and standard data analysis tools like Microsoft Excel or Python pandas cannot parse the bundled binary data directly. Downloading specialized oscilloscope viewing software to a personal computer is often cumbersome, requires a specific operating system, and creates workflow bottlenecks for engineers who just want to see a simple trace.

To make this data accessible, technicians typically need to extract the embedded CSV (waveform data), XML (settings), or PNG (screen captures) files. Because the archive format is proprietary, traditional online converters fail to understand the Teledyne LeCroy container format.

This file format is notoriously difficult to open or convert. Emphasize that often only the original hardware or Teledyne LeCroy WaveStudio can properly read or export the raw data. If our analysis detects a supported underlying or embedded format - like a screenshot or a standard text configuration file - viewing or conversion may still be possible without installing heavy engineering suites.

Convert.Guru analyzes your LNB file, detects the exact format, and lets you read the text inside.

Users also converted PBF, ANB and TPR files.

FAQ

If you want to convert LNB file to CSV, JSON, XML, YAML, YML, TOML, INI, CFG, CONF, DAT, DB or SQL, you can use Teledyne LeCroy MAUI or similar software from the "Oscilloscope Data Storage" category. In the File menu, look for Save As… or Export….

To convert DBF, XML, SQLITE, XLSX, SQL, TSV, ACCDB, YAML, MDB, CSV, ODS or JSON files to LNB, try Teledyne LeCroy MAUI or another comparable tool in the "Oscilloscope Data Storage" category.

The LNB Converter Story

The history of Convert.Guru began over 25 years ago in California with Tom Simondi’s file-format database. A former contributor to Space Shuttle development and a software pioneer of the 1980s, Simondi established a trusted resource for file type analysis that was even referenced by Microsoft Windows XP. Today, we use modern technology to process and convert thousands of file formats while continually improving our LNB converter.
