About LLV files
.LLV files are primarily Locklizard Safeguard Viewer license files. Publishers use them to grant users access to DRM-protected documents (usually PDC files). Less frequently, .LLV files are proprietary video recordings generated by Cycliq bike cameras, or log files used by TIBCO LogLogic.
The main disadvantage of the Locklizard .LLV format is that it causes massive user confusion. Users frequently attempt to open or convert the .LLV file expecting to see a document. However, an .LLV file is strictly a cryptographic key. It contains no readable text, pages, or images. You cannot convert it into a standard PDF or DOCX file because the document data simply does not exist inside this file. It requires a proprietary subscription and the Locklizard Safeguard PDF Viewer to process the license and unlock the separate PDC document.
If your .LLV file is a Cycliq video, it suffers from poor compatibility. Standard web browsers and basic media players will usually fail to play it. For these video files, your best conversion target is a standard MP4 or MKV container to ensure smooth playback on any device without losing quality.
Because these formats are either highly encrypted DRM keys or proprietary video containers, they are notoriously difficult to open or convert with standard tools. Often only the original software can properly read or export the data. However, convert.guru provides a pragmatic workaround. Just drag and drop your file to identify the format, view it, and convert it when possible. Even if it is a closed proprietary file, our analysis detects the underlying structure, helping you confirm if you are dealing with a text-based license or a binary video file.
Convert.Guru analyzes your LLV file, detects the exact format, and lets you read the text inside.

The LLV Converter Story
The history of Convert.Guru began over 25 years ago in California with Tom Simondi’s file-format database. A former contributor to Space Shuttle development and a software pioneer of the 1980s, Simondi established a trusted resource for file type analysis that was even referenced by Microsoft Windows XP. Today, we use modern technology to process and convert thousands of file formats while continually improving our LLV converter.
