First detected in 2022, this malicious software targets 64-bit Windows machines, aggressively terminating running programs to lock as many files as possible. It appends the .LILITH extension to the original filename. No legitimate software uses this file format. It is entirely a product of cyber extortion. Attackers typically leave a Restore_Your_Files.txt ransom note in affected folders, demanding cryptocurrency in exchange for a decryption tool. You cannot simply convert a .LILITH file back to its original format (like PDF or DOCX) using a standard file converter. The file's underlying data has been mathematically scrambled using strong cryptographic APIs.
