About LGR files

The .LGR extension is a dual-purpose format often causing confusion due to its context-dependent nature. In the electronics manufacturing industry, it represents a Gerber PCB Layer, specifically adhering to the RS-274X standard maintained by Ucamco. These files contain precise 2D vector coordinates used to drive CNC machines for drilling or etching circuit boards. The friction here is significant: while the data is technically ASCII text, it is unintelligible without a dedicated viewer like GerbView or GraphiCode. Users cannot simply double-click to view the layout, and professional ECAD software is often prohibitively expensive for simple checks.

Alternatively, .LGR files serve as Optimization Reports or system logs generated by solvers like LINDO and GLPK, or data loggers from Technolog. In this form, the file is purely informational text locked behind an obscure extension. For Gerber files, the ideal conversion target is PDF for documentation or DXF for importing vector paths into AutoCAD. For Log variants, converting to TXT or CSV strips away the format compatibility issues, allowing immediate analysis in text editors or Microsoft Excel.

Convert.Guru analyzes your LGR file, detects the exact format, and lets you read the text inside.

Users also converted GER, GRX and DRD files.

FAQ

If you want to convert LGR file to CSV, JSON, XML, YAML, YML, TOML, INI, CFG, CONF, DAT, DB or SQL, you can use Ucamco Reference Viewer or similar software from the "PCB Layer Data & Logging" category. In the File menu, look for Save As… or Export….

The LGR Converter Story

The history of Convert.Guru began over 25 years ago in California with Tom Simondi’s file-format database. A former contributor to Space Shuttle development and a software pioneer of the 1980s, Simondi established a trusted resource for file type analysis that was even referenced by Microsoft Windows XP. Today, we use modern technology to process and convert thousands of file formats while continually improving our LGR converter.
